best tailgating speaker

If you’re an avid tailgater, odds are that you want to have the capability to really jam out. As many of you know, a speaker the size of a beats pill is probably not loud enough for your tailgate. The speakers I researched were all less than $400 but I will be giving you the best speakers in each price range. Unfortunately, the speaker world is one where you get what you pay for, so often times the more you pay the better the speaker you get. Through my research and listening to my friends’ speakers, I was able to settle on my top 5 best portable tailgating speakers. Here is the ultimate list for the best wireless speaker for tailgating in 2020.

#5 ION Block Rocker Plus

  • 100 Watts
  • 50-hour battery life
  • Microphone
  • Wheels and telescopic handle
  • Bass Boost/Subwoofer

The ION Block Rocker Plus was actually the first speaker I tested out on my mission to find a suitable tailgating speaker. I bought it because it was a “big” speaker that had incredible battery life. When I did a sound test, I was happy with the quality of the music but the max volume was nothing to brag about compared to some of the speakers on this list. Overall, the volume was quite loud but I wanted something to blow you off your seat. If you were only using a speaker indoors, the Block Rocker would be sufficiently loud for a house party.

#4 ECOXGEAR EcoBoulder+

  • 100 Watts
  • Water/Dust Proof
  • Connects to other ECOGEAR speakers
  • Dry Storage for valuables
  • Up to 100 hours of playback

The ECOXGEAR EcoBoulder+ is a slight upgrade from the ION Block Rocker. The first and largest point worth noting is the sound quality. The ECOXGEAR is louder and the sound quality is slightly better than the ION. Though it is more expensive, it may be a better investment for your tailgating scene.

Monster rolling rocker

#3 Monster Rolling Rocker 4

  • 100-Hour playback
  • Built-in NOAA weather radio
  • 100 Watts
  • Connect wirelessly via Bluetooth and NFC
  • Bottle Opener
  • Microphone

The Monster Rolling Rocker 4 is the speaker I use to this day. It has proven to be loud enough for my tailgates and I like to have some volume. The battery life is impeccable. After 10+ hours of loud music, the battery will still be going strong. It can perform well even in a light rain. The durability of this speaker might be the aspect that has amazed me the most. It will also work well as a house party speaker. It also offers the option to stack another Rolling Rocker on top of it to double to the playing power.

#2 Aiwa Exos-9

  • 200 Watts
  • Sound Customization
  • 6.5″ dual-voice coil subwoofer
  • Subwoofer
  • Connects to other Aiwa Exos-9 speakers

The Aiwa Exos-9 is one of the top portable wireless speakers on the market and at a price tag of $299.99, it proves to be a solid buy for the tailgating scene, as well as many other scenes. With 200 watts, it packs a little more punch than the Monster Rolling Rocker 4. The battery life is really quite good even though the battery itself is not as big as other “big” wireless speakers on the list. The bass and the sheer amount of sound the Aiwa delivers makes it a worthy buy for any situation.

#1 Soundsboks 2

  • 40-hour battery life
  • Swappable battery
  • Weatherproof
  • Two 10” woofers
  • Three 72 Watt speakers

The Soundboks 2 is quite possibly the king of tailgating speakers. I realize that this speaker is more expensive than the other speakers on the list but that is because it is truly a beast of a speaker. This speaker delivers power similar to a speaker that needs to be plugged in. If you have the means and the desire to have an incredible tailgating/party speaker then you should definitely consider investing in the Soundboks 2.
